Comments Made Easier

I just de-activated the “math question” which was needed to post a comment on my site. Others had mentioned this, but I could not imagine what they meant.

My twin brother Patrick took me to task and told me how annoying this was. I logged out and discovered that a person had to perform mathematics to post! Good grief! If I had to do this when I wanted to say hi, or I like your garden etc. I would kick the bucket!

Thank you to all who ever posted in the past. I sincerely appreciate it. Now, I hope you will say hello in the future without feeling you are taking a math test!!!

Very warm regards,

Philip

  2. A math question doesn’t seem all that bad when compared to the captchas which are illegible with or without glasses/bifocals/magnifying lenses/pattern analysis software… “No math question” also seems like a pretty good
    option — there’s a certain elegant simplicity there :)

  4. I took the word recognition thingy off of mine early, it was just a pain. I do get an occasional spammer, but nothin major

  5. I was the first to tell you!!! But I agree too—- that some captcha phrases are off the wall humorous. I wish I had copied and stored all the funny ones. Your math questions weren’t hard at all. Most of the time…it was would start off with something like…2+4. If you missed that..then it would say—2+0!

I was commenting at one blog this week..missed the math questions and it actually replied to me to get out a calculator. I laughed my fool head off! We love ya babes so no worries here. I only had to solve an algebraic equation one time. Really!

  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know these measures(captcha, etc) are to prevent spam but they are so %$^#%@! annoying! Sometimes I don’t comment if I have to ’solve’ one of these things. Who is getting spam on their blog anyway?

  7. Oh Philip how clever of you. I have commented several times on your blog when I forgot to do the math and had my whole comment disappear. I have just gone into my own blog and turned off that annoying word recognition thing. I never thought of trying before.

  16. Hi Anna,
We got a Siamese Kitten earlier this month. Her name is Isis and she is beautiful. She was a feral kitten, so we have to tame her. She is coming along great!!!
Only something did happen 2 days after being with us. We live on the top of a hill in San francisco and there can be wind. The door opened and she escaped! she did not know her home so she was out 2 nights. We were miserable :(
We got a cat trap and it worked!
    yay! :)
So now everytime we go out into the garden we use these hooks and bolts on the doors.
Eventually she will go out, but she is too little and the hawks would get her. So she is inside for now and is very affectionate and playful.
    Best Regards,
    Philip

  17. Siamese cats are so smart. I bet she figures out how to open the doors and let you out! I like the name Isis—where did you get that. I went from sad to glad over your lost cat. I was so afraid she was gone forever. I was ready to come beat you up. But come to think of it—I think she never got lost. She was watching you out scouring the neighborhood looking for her. You got to watch this one….she a smartie.

  19. I love the photo at the top of this post.

Wild strawberries make me think of the banks beside the narrow Dorset lanes.

The last quote you have pretty much describes how I feel about blackberries. We have acres and acres of them in the wild here and eating them slows down every walk we take.

P.S. I didn’t mind your maths once I understood what was required. I think it said ‘and’ instead of ‘add’ so I kept copying the two instead of . . . well, adding them. Once I twigged, it wasn’t a problem.

  20. Hi, Philip! First, thank you for eliminating the math thingie. Last time I tried to comment it told me I had failed and that my comment was being put “in a log” instead of being posted. Oh, dear. :) Secondly, my Siamese kitty is also a feral I trained, and she, also, disappeared while I was taming her! And I was also beside myself. But she came back. As she is deaf she no longer goes outside at all and is content to be safe inside. (More on this in my BOOK!) The strawberries look delicious. I have never seen a wild strawberry, I don’t think, so no associations. But a lovely thought… Thanks! Kathryn

  21. Hi Lucy!
I am so pleased that you liked it! It was my homage to you. Your work on PICTURES JUST PICTURES is what inspired this. When I saw the light and shadow of this part of the wild strawberry patch I thought “this is a Lucy Corrander moment when everything comes together.”
Your work inspires me to look at the world.
There is a funny part to this, though. I was not as pleased with the other images with the light and focus, but my friend Ric ate all the wild strawberries upon hearing they had fruit! So, my subject just had leaves now and no berries! So, I decided to just go with what I had, but at least I had the one image that made me think of you!
    Best Regards,
    Philip

  23. You’ve got me! Absolutely, that is the kind of picture I would feel compelled to take.

And I hope Ric liked the strawberries!
